Chirp.

Team messaging inside the app your team already opens twenty times a day. Channels per store, direct messages, @mentions that reach a muted phone, and an owner who can read the record when something goes wrong — without anybody handing over a personal phone number.

Access is your user list. Hire someone and their channels are simply there. Untick active and they are out of every one of them, on every device, seconds later — because nobody was ever added by hand, so nobody has to remember to remove them.

Right now your store runs on a group text.

Somebody’s personal number is in forty phones. A part-timer leaves and they are still in the thread. The one message that mattered — who is covering Saturday — is nine hundred messages up. Nobody can search it, nobody owns it, and when there is a dispute about what was actually said, there is no record anyone can look at.

Chirp is the same convenience, inside the system that already knows who works for you, which store they work at, and whether they still work there this morning.

Nobody adds anyone. Nobody removes anyone.

Access is your user list. That is the whole mechanism — and it is the difference between a messaging tool you can run a business on and one you cannot.

The day you hire

Create the user. That is the whole task.

You add them to Axis and assign their store — the thing you were going to do anyway. Their store channel appears on their phone the first time they open it. Nobody has to remember to add them to a group, and no manager has to be asked to do it. There is no second list.

The day they leave

Untick active. They are out of everything, at once.

Not queued, not overnight, not “once someone gets round to it”. Membership is re-evaluated against the live user record on every single request, so the next time their phone polls — seconds — every channel and every conversation is gone, on every device they own.

⚠️

A group text cannot do this

Removing somebody from a group chat is a manual act somebody has to remember, on a day when everyone is busy and nobody is thinking about it. Until they do, a former employee is reading your staffing, your numbers and your customers’ names on their own phone — and there is no log that says how long for.

🔑

One place to get it right

The user record already decides what they can see in reports, on the schedule, and in the app. Chirp reads the same record, so there is exactly one place to be correct and exactly one place to check — not a messaging app to audit separately every quarter.

🔄

Moving stores works the same way

Reassign somebody from Arvada to Denver and their channels follow that minute. Promote them into a manager role and #Managers opens. Nobody reshuffles a chat app to match a rota change.

📋

And it is answerable

“Who could see that conversation on the 4th?” has an answer, because access was derived from records you keep anyway — not from who happened to be in a thread somebody started eighteen months ago.

A messenger that already knows your org chart.

No invites, no directory to maintain, no personal numbers — because Axis already holds all of it.

Channels

Channels that build themselves.

Every store gets a channel, and its membership is computed from who is assigned to that store — not from who remembered to add whom. #Managers is a role channel: manager and above, resolved live. Custom channels cover everything else, and a manager can spin one up for a remodel or a sale week.

Move somebody between stores in Axis and their channels follow them that minute. Deactivate them and every channel closes at once — access is re-evaluated on each request, not stored in a list somebody has to prune.

  • Store channels from store assignments
  • #Managers resolved from role, live
  • Custom channels created by a manager and above

A real conversation

Everything people expect a messenger to do.

Reactions, replies with a quote of what you replied to, read receipts, edit and delete, emoji, photos straight from the camera, GIFs, video, files, a location and a poll when the question is “who can cover Saturday”.

Read receipts appear in direct messages, groups and custom channels — and deliberately never in a store or role channel, where forty people knowing exactly when you read something is surveillance rather than a feature.

@mentions

The one message that has to get through.

Type a colleague’s name and Chirp resolves it against the channel roster as you send — and again if you edit. A mention pierces a muted conversation with its own notification, because muting the Arvada channel should not mean missing the thing that was actually addressed to you.

It does not pierce quiet hours. Somebody who has said they are asleep is asleep.

Every @you collects in one Mentions view, so a person coming back from two days off has one list to read instead of nine channels.

Every @you, in one place
Every @you, in one place
Search

Searchable — within the walls you already have.

One box across every conversation you are in. Results are scoped by exactly the same visibility rules as the conversation list, so a search can never surface a message from a channel you are not in — verified, not assumed.

Tap a result and it jumps to that message in its thread, in context, with the messages either side of it.

Search sits above the list, not behind a menu
Search sits above the list, not behind a menu

An owner can read it. And that is on the record.

Store messaging is an employment record whether or not anybody planned it that way.

👀

Oversight, read-only

An owner can open any conversation in their account. Read-only — there is no way to write into a thread you are not in, and a banner says plainly that this is an oversight view.

📝

Every open is logged

Opening a conversation under oversight writes a row: who looked, at what, when. The log is the owner’s and is never shown to members — and never shown to an admin either.

🔒

Access follows the roster

Membership is re-evaluated against the live user record on every request. Deactivate somebody at 9am and by 9:00 they are out of every channel, on every device they own.

📱

No personal numbers

Nobody hands out their mobile to be reachable. A part-timer who leaves takes nothing with them, because there was never a group they had to be removed from.

🗑️

Delete leaves a mark

A sender can delete their own message and a moderator can delete anybody’s — but a deleted message leaves a tombstone in the thread. The conversation cannot be quietly rewritten.

🚫

What it deliberately is not

No voice notes, no calls, and no end-to-end encryption — because a record an owner can be required to produce is the entire point. If you need a private channel, use a phone.

Against the group text you have now.

Loud when it matters. Silent when it does not.

The reason people mute a work group is that it cannot tell the difference. This one can.

🔔

Real push, both platforms

APNs on iPhone, FCM on Android, grouped by conversation so a busy channel is one stack and not forty banners.

🔇

Mute a conversation

Mute the channel that chats all day and keep the one that does not. Muting is per conversation, per person.

🌙

Quiet hours you set

Your own window, in your store’s timezone. It suppresses the push, never the message — it is all still there in the morning.

@

Mentions get through

An @you pierces a mute with its own wording, so muting a channel is safe rather than risky. It never pierces quiet hours.

🟢

Badges that are true

The 🐦 tab and the app icon carry the real unread count, and it clears when the messages are actually read — not when you glance at the list.

💬

Text size, per person

A slider in the thread header. The person reading it through the bottom of their varifocals at arm’s length is a real person on your floor.

The same conversation, on the counter and in the pocket.

Chirp is a two-pane console on the desktop platform and a bottom tab in Axis.Pocket. One set of conversations, one unread count, read state carried across both — so the person answering from the back office and the person answering from the floor are in the same thread, not two copies of it.
